Khartoum - The 25th meeting of the board of directors of the COMESA Leather and Leather Products Institute started yesterday and will continue until September 6th.
Hashim Fathallah, secretary general of COMESA, said the meetings discuss the implementation status of member countries in respect to the strategies and plans aiming to develop the leather and leather products sector as well as discuss the status of payment of the contributions of member countries to the institute's budget and other topics that may arise.
Fathallah added that the institute is about to prepare a strategy and a phased program for the development of leather and leather products sector in Sudan according to the data and information incoming from concerned authorities in Sudan.
He said he expects the meeting to produce recommendations to deal with the issues laid before the meeting participants for discussion in such a way as may reinforce the benefits reaped by member countries in the organization from the huge resources available in this sector.
